Initiative Funding

Initiative grants address new and emerging adult foundational learning needs in Calgary. This funding supports community-focused non-profit organizations to research and develop learning resources, and to pilot innovative foundational learning opportunities for adult Calgarians with financial barriers. Prior to beginning an application, we highly recommend you contact Jeannie Finch (403-266-6444, ext 2) to discuss your project ideas and ensure fit with Calgary Learns’ funding mandate.

  • Proposals are due June 1, 2018 for the July 2018/June 2019 grant term
  • Initiative funding supports one-time projects to a grant maximum of $20,000
  • Projects must demonstrate community need and an innovative response
  • Piloted learning opportunities must be non-credit and part-time
  • Learners in piloted learning opportunities must have financial barriers

We invite applicants to meet with Grants Coordinator Jeannie Finch to preview a draft of your Initiative proposal prior to submitting the final proposal on June 1. Contact Jeannie to arrange a Proposal Preview on May 22, 23 or 24 and email her a draft of your proposal 3 to 5 days prior to your meeting.
